I personally don't need a humidifier, but my husband and kiddos do. Since we are spending most of our time at my parent's house right now, I needed one that would work for her larger living room, since that is were we are spending a lot of our time there. Then at night, we just move it to the kiddos room. They just love sharing a big room...not...lol.
Like I said, I needed a larger one to accommodate the space. This one is 6.5 liters/1.7 gallons, which can be used effectively in up to an 861 square foot room. Because the tank is so large, it doesn't need to be refilled as often. One rank of water can last up to 72 hours (on low). We typically keep it on the lower settings, because we do run it fairly continously. However, we opt to dump, clean, and put fresh water in it every other day for sanitary reasons. There is always water left in it though.
This is a cool and warm mist humidifier. There are 6 adjustable cool and warm mist levels that can be adjusted with the control panel on the machine or with the remote. It can also be set on auto mode. Basically, just set the desired humidity level needed and once it reaches that it shuts off.
The dispensary nozzle on top can be rotated 360 degrees so we choose where the mist is aimed.
A few things I like is that there is no filter, we use distilled water and that refilling is done on top. Just pick up the panel and pour water in.
There is a place to put essential oils, but we have never used it. We have essential oil diffusers and didn't want to mix the two.
I thought with it being a bigger machine that it would be really loud, and it's actually fairly quiet.
Well worth the money for something that my family needs.
