I waited a bit to write this review, I needed some time to test the machine. For medical reasons we need a humidifier in the bedroom at night. I have previously piddled with smaller humidifiers and found the CONSTANT refilling chore in small humidifiers to be both bothersome and often neglected, resulting in low bedroom humidity. OK, so I decided to try the Elechomes SH8820. Yep, it’s not cheap, but YES it works GREAT. Keeps one side of the bedroom at ~ 45% humidity (the side that needs the higher humidity) even with the home central heater running. So, the bottom line is the SH8820 is pumping out a LOT of moisture into the air. Now, let me say one thing, the SH8820 is easy to fill with water, it’s a top-fill so just take off the lid and fill it, BUT, you cannot see the water level until you remove the lid, in other words, you are just guessing that the machine should be turned off for a moment while you look at the water level. This is not convenient. The machine should have a water level indicator on the OUTSIDE of the machine to allow simple decisions on when to fill the tank. Summary is - I like the SH8820, the performance is great, but a little improvement in the water level monitoring system would be a major improvement.
